Crops Self Portrait

Things you may notice about me: Stretch marks, surgery scars, small imperfections, big pores, double chin, a butt that’s barely there, the widest shoulders around, fat in all the places, etc. and so on.

Also file under:

  • Things that are none of your fucking business.
  • Things that do not indicate my health or my lifestyle.
  • Things that not make me any less deserving of sexual relationships or love.
  • Things that do not, in any way, lessen my value as a person.

Before Take Shape For Life, I had really low self-esteem. I also had a really high risk of diabetes and heart disease. Being an obese woman is hard, but being an obese woman trying to get through college is even harder.  I knew that I wasn’t happy with myself and I wasn’t happy with my life because of how I looked and how unhealthy I was. And that is just no way to live. Fortunately for me, my sister started the “Take Shape for Life” program and between my Spring break visit and coming home for summer break, I saw my sister lose close to twenty pounds. She was so happy and I decided I wanted that for myself.
Now, it’s been 14 weeks, and I’ve lost over 40 pounds! I can go into stores and find a ton of clothes in my size, people remember me when they meet me, and I don’t need anyone to tell me I’m beautiful because I see it by myself! At the end of the month, I’m running in my first 5k for charity and I plan on continuing these sorts of activities for a long time. All because I quit making excuses, and decided that my happiness is worth working for. And I couldn’t have done it without Take Shape for Life!

PLEASE STOP SCROLLING:Today I was putting on makeup and my cousin Max said:“Lauren you don’t need makeup to be pretty, you’re beautiful :)”I think my cousin in amazing! Instead of reblogging girls in short shorts and boys with sixpacks simply just click reblog and reblog my cousin! I love him and it would mean alot to both of us!
